Once the full moon had passed, the Spartans reached Athens in 3 days with 2000 men

Of course, they missed the battle by miles

However they insisted at looking at the Persian dead at Marathon

After that they commended the Athenians and marched home.

Soon after in Athens, members of the Alcmeonid family were accused of signalling the Persians to sail to Athens

To my knowledge the family was found innocent on all counts

Using the fame and celebrity gained from Marathon, Miltiades procured 70 ships and troops, claiming that his endevour would enrich Athens.

In reality, he was going to use this force to settle a feud with the city of Paros by sacking it

However Miltiades was overcome with terror as he approached the shrine and, fleeing back over the wall, smashed his leg. The siege was broken and back in Athens Miltiades was put on trial and found guility of misleading the people. He was fined 50 talents of Gold and died in shame due to Gangrene soon after

The city's defences proved too much for Miltiades and his troops. But during the siege Miltiades was told by a woman named Timo that the secret to victory was in the shrine of Demeter

    *SNAP*

And so it was that at the cost of Histiaeus, Aristagoras, Callimachus and Pheidippides...

Miletus, Macedonia, Eritria, Naxos, The Cheronese, Chios, Thasos, Samos and Countless Ionians. 192 Athenians and 6400 Persians at Marathon alone...

...That Greece was saved from Slavery at the hands of the Persian King Darius and his inummerable hoardes. The year is 490 BC. The Persians have just fled back across the Aegean sea from Athens.

    And we are still free.
