The giddy children are eager to play
Animals too bask in the grass-warming heat
All feels right on this average summer day
The slight summer breeze, generous nature's treat

Adults oversee with smiles of past
As Summer takes flight on warm and sweet wings
Memories are made that will surely last
While all partake in the joy Summer brings

But as this goes on, I watch from afar
Through the concrete windows of my round tomb
When I will soon get out, no sun but stars
This summer day wasted will be my doom

I hear summer call to let my hair down
In my windowless tower, Summer drowns

This was motivated by me being stuck in my windowless dome of a high school during summer.

Nice word pictures in this - "smiles of past" is very poignant.
