Description
A quantum black hole has wandered into this blue-dwarf system. While a stream of stellar matter is torn loose from the star and vanishes into the event horizon, the lighter-than-air lifeforms of the gas giant notice destructive perturbations in their environment and wonder--not for the first time--what's up?
This strip is a reply to Dawn 9, Event Horizon, Space experiment, Black hole, View From The Void, New Neighborhood, A new home, Black hole
The tiny lichen on the moon in the foreground are the only ones in position to observe the light of the background stars red-shifting as it is distorted by gravitational lensing. They cannot, however, fully appreciate this because lichen have no way of perceiving the spectrum of visible light.
