The New Yorker aired many one panel "comics" cartoons that had a single or multiple captions since 1925.
One notable "New Yorker" artist was the renouned Charles Addams, creator of the "Addams Family", who was featured in one panel cartoons until the TV show based on the creepy family debuted.
