Description
I have been asked to do a basic "anime" tutorial on SG, so lets break it down into sections.
This strip is a reply to Tutorial: How to Draw A Noonie, SSGG: Two New Races, SG Head Tutorial part 2 - Eyes, SG Head Tutorial part 3 - Faces continued, SG Head Tutorial part 4 - Mah Hair!
This is section one, on basic head shape.
All I do is I start with a circle, and then I build the rest of the skull using one or more shapes attatched to the bottom.
This is a sampler of all the different heads I typically build down to their basic silhouette level.
Head examples:
First one shown is the basic shape I do for most males.
Second shape is an elderly man, like the one I use for Gishkar
Third is the one I used for a more broad, strong muscular male, like I did for Theodore and the Imbianites.
The Fourth is the basic female shape I do, especially for my own avatar.
The fifth is a softer rounder jaw that I sometimes use for more "normal" people.
This is your base for any kind of a person, and it is important that you can tell what kind of person you are going to draw BEFORE you even add any details.
This will improve your building of silhouette scenes as well.
You do not have to stick to this method, there are other methods, and there are many head shapes possible.
Once you get down your basics, you can move from there.
