    And so, Muerkari the god of death gathered his troops of wretched phantoms and in his battle armor made of hatred and nightmares, he marched on Cielan. Along the way he and his army killed everything in their path and burned the fields and forests to ashes and fire.

    Muerkari chose the day of Verethal for his assault…the most sacred day in the Kimani cycle. He knew the gods would be celebrating the existence of creation on this day and the triumph of light over darkness and so would be distracted by festivals and ritual sacrifices.
