Expandhuman preist's mask human temple guard mask Normal human worshipper or assassin Mark of the Sixth Tentacle - Deth Although the tentacle race was considered chosen, all races were welcome to worship the Nine. The mythos surrounding the creation of the dark tentacle people also included the creation of Deth, the sixth tentacle, who was believed to be borne of a human woman who lived in the villiage destroyed by Chthuhlu. Deth's gate is the sixth gate and sixth plane of Hell. Humans were the only ones allowed to participate in ceremonies for the sixth gate outside of the High Priest and Gatekeeper. Any unfaithful humans who were considered of high evil could enter the sixth gate of hell when they died, and it was considered they would recieve some small rewards during the Grand Opening.
Humans, when not in the Temple Deth or in secular areas, were expected to wear ceremonial masks to occasions, to protect them from the wrath of the other 8 gods during ceremonies and to show humility as the lesser, subservient race. Normal sackcloth was reserved for commoners. Assassins for the temple would also wear them as a disguise when completing holy work, to blend in with other faithful worshippers. Any guards for the temples or the Palace wore a mask with special marks, the most prominent being a red splotch symbolizing the blood of infidels. Humans were the only ones permitted to become priests for the sixth temple, and wore special marked masks of fine linen, inked with holy markings. If a champion was a human, and was selected for ressurection, a hexagonal gate would be used to bring them back. All human worshippers were tattooed somewhere on their body with a mark of Deth. -
