Self Portrait or What I Wish They Knew
  • Description

Self-explanatory. We have all felt, at one point, like we have nothing to offer people, because people have torn us until we feel like the ugliest individuals on the planet. Even if behind an ugly face is a heart so large it's begging to hold all of humanity in it. I was thinking about the visual world, and what it lacks; No matter how beautiful of a person someone is, we can never SEE it.

no such thing as ugly to me, as an artist i believe that ugly is a non-consept

This is amazing. I don’t know if it is supposed to be an optical illusion, but when I look at this picture it seems to go in and out of focus. I like the statement you make here about what the visual world lacks. We have been focusing so much on what the visual has to offer that I’ve forgotten its limitations. Still, it was this visual image that you used to remind us. This is a good example of why comics, visual paired with words, have so much potential for expression.

This is a true story. Sometimes people have a lot to offer but we lack to see it. Sometimes we lack to look past the surface to see what is truly the potential of an individual. On the same token we are often fooled.
