    well, are we talking about continental rationalism or modern? The "cogito ergo sum" is the classic philosophical theorem proposed by Rene Descartes...who was a "continental" rationalist...in opposition to the british empiricists (Locke, Hume). But modern rationalism is closer to Leibniz with the development of an empirical rationalism...and "rationalist psychology" seems to be more in the modern camp than the original rationalism of Descartes.
