Description
Be nice to people who work in the fast-food industry (...and, by extension, waiters and waitresses as well; watch the movie Waiting for the consequences if you don't). For the most part, they are good people doing a job that is high on stress and low on almost everything else (...pay, respect, etc.). On far too many occasions I've seen more than my share of idiots from all walks of life take out their rage on the unsuspecting "crewmembers" or "associates" behind the counter doing two or three things at once, trying their best to keep up.
Of course, this phenomenon isn't isolated to the local burger joint or taco stand. Anyone who has ever worked in "The Service Industry" dealing with "The Public" knows that people can be real assholes sometimes, often for only the slightest of reasons (...or none at all for that matter). And, since your job is "to serve", often the only option available is to be as polite and helpful as possible while secretly grinding your teeth and hoping against hope they are hit by a bus on their way home.
This strip is about that kind of inner wish fulfillment. It might be something an employee might say on his or her last day when being fired outright is no longer a threat, or something that's just blurted out in a moment of frustrated weakness. Either way, I suspect that it happens more often than we might think...even when we're sitting in the drive-thru waiting for a milkshake.
