    I really learned a lesson that night. I was young(er) and stupid(er), and thought nothing of playing this fun new drinking card game, Up & Down The River...or of playing it with Tony, who may have been the UP'er personification of the Trickster of Native American folklore. He wasn't evil, he was simply a force of nature from the Upper Peninsula.

    I've never been a heavy drinker, and I was normally the designated driver for everyone, a role I definitely didn't mind. Instead of a badge of honor, I thought getting that stupidly sick was too shaming and decided not to repeat that mistake again.

    I found it much more fun to make fun of drunkards at the college parties. Plus, now, all these years later...I remember more! I still have my brain cells!
