    The ruling class is made up of people who directly influence politics and government due to wealth or power. The first example of this in history was feudalism in the middle ages. Feudalism divided people into social/working ranks.

    Feudal lords are the highest rank, vassels are 2nd, and fiefs are the owned by vassels. Because of this, feudal lords controlled the government and military.

    Marx states that the ruling class is a society's ruling intellectual force as well. This is true in feudalism in part to a lack of education for the lower class.
