ExpandPart 2...
So what do you need to know?
How to balance chemical equations.
That's easy! First, I'll tell you what balancing chemical equations means.
Okay.
Basically, you have to make sure that there's the same amount of each element on each side.
Let's start with an easy one. Suppose we had Na+I(2)=NaI
But wait, that's not balanced!
Correct! But, what's wrong with this equation?
Well, there's 2 Iodines on the left side, but only one on the right!
Correct! So, how can we fix it?
Well... if we add a 2 next to NaI, that will make the Iodines equal.
But now you have another problem, the Na, because now there are 2 Na's on the right
You're right, but how do I fix it?
Well, if you add 2 next to the Na on the left, the equation will be balnced!
Cool!
Na+I(2)= NaI
becomes
2Na+I(2)=2NaI
How about S+O(2)=SO(3) ?
Well... you would add 2 to the SO(3), 3 to the O(2), and 2 to the S
Nice!
It becomes 2S+3O(2)=2SO(3)
Perfectly balanced!
Wow, thanks J.P.!
No problem! But you forgot one thing.
What's that?
You were dead the whole time!
Wow, what a twist!
