    Did robin hood realy exist?
Why is britain a world hotspot of hauntings?
    Where did my toothbrush go?

these are just a few of thousands of unexplained mysteries and happenings that the world have scratched their heads at (not the last one but you get the picture)

You left your toothbrush in the freezer.

You might need to sterilize it, Nessie has been using it to apply waterproof sun screen.

El dorado story came from /is based of an old ceramony wher they covered im gold dust. Not joking
  • supergogeta 3.5.2012
It turns out El Dorado was a real thing, just not at all what the Spaniards thought. The whole legend was based on a Muisca tribal ceremony where they covered a new chieftain in gold dust. The Spaniards heard them talking about a golden person and made the natural assumption that he must be from a golden city, the same way that filthy French people come from filthy French cities.Since the conquistadors' attitude toward all gold was decidedly Scrooge McDuckian, they were intrigued by the legend they had willed into existence. And when the natives realized that the white guys had willfully misunderstood their way into a magical city made of gold, they didn't exactly go out of their way to correctthem.

El Dorado was never a place. In fact, the Conquistadors dreamed it up. When they found the Mexica people ( pronounced Meh- SHEE- cah), also known as the Aztecs (not their real name), they saw that they used gold as decorations in there temples. What they didn't understand is that to the Mexica people, gold had no value other than its beauty. So all of their gold was used for temple decorations since it had no value. The Spaniards assumed that if they used gold so freely, they must have a great source of gold. So the Spaniards made up El Dorado to explain the great amount of Mexica gold.

the Conquistadors dreamed it up... probably

thats a very good point scales, and makes sence since the americans dreamed up their inderpendance!

Freedom is whatever those in charge allow you to do. This is the same in every country.
  • dadebomb123 8.6.2012
    then that is not Freedom
  • Scales 21.6.2012
It is if everyone believes that it is. Those few malcontents who see that it isn't what we think it is can easily be drowned out by the voice of the deluded majority.
  • dadebomb123 23.6.2012
we are never free, and we will never be free...
  • Scales 29.6.2012
First, we must know what freedom is. That which is not definable must also remain unattainable. So, what, exactly, is this freedom that we don't have? What does it consist of? What does it look like? How will it effect my taxes? Will it help me get more women?
No need to pine over it until we figure out what, exactly, it is.
First tell me what freedom is, then I can tell you how to attain it.
