Future ideas and tips - Tell us about what you think Stripgenerator needs in the future

Additional character suggestions | author: ActingUpAgain | 08.01.2007 18:30

Maybe include aminals that represent various political parties. In the United States, a couple would be a donkey to represent Democrats, and an elephant to represent Republicans. This would be wonderful for creating political cartoons!

  1. re: Additional character suggestions | Andraz | 08.01.2007 19:31 You are right. We will put this on our to-do list. Political associations are always a contribute to the cartoons.
  2. re: Additional character suggestions | gamestudio | 08.01.2007 19:39 Since someone talked about this extra character thing, I would suggest you create a way by which people could contribute with characters themselves.

Like some page we could upload suggestions and you could approve (or not) and include them. This way, we could lighten the burden of increasing character/object database...
  3. re: Additional character suggestions | Andraz | 08.01.2007 19:42 Yeah, but at the same time, the magic of stripgenerator lies in its limitations and simplicity. We are definately thinking about that and we will probably eventually include this option somehow, but probably not until version 1.1 or perhaps even later ones.

But as always, we are listening to the users and probably they (you :) ) will demand this probably sooner then later.
  4. re: Additional character suggestions | Zigmund | 08.01.2007 22:51 not to sound pretentious, but a big deal of strip generator's popularity is due to the simple characters and the fact that they are in the same unique style, so as long as the system is as it is, we will contribute and the characters.. in the future we are planning as much of interaction with you folks on the new characters as we can, even some voting and suggestions.. so don't worry, we will keep updating new items and various graphic elements, you can take me responsible ;)
  5. re: Additional character suggestions | Zigmund | 08.01.2007 22:54 CORRECTIONS: 'we will contribute -all- the characters..' 'you can -hold- me responsible ;)'
  6. re: Additional character suggestions | gamestudio | 09.01.2007 14:22 Ok. Just one more suggestin, then... A watercooler (with a paper or plastic cup) could be very useful and a great addition to objects. Most offices have one, many strips take place in offices, and Bob is becoming too stressed due to the amount of coffee he drinks every day... I don't know for how long I can keep him in line! :p
  7. re: Additional character suggestions | Andraz | 09.01.2007 15:16 Ahm, watercoolers are a very american thing, not near as popular in europe, so we gotta think about it :)
  8. re: Additional character suggestions | gamestudio | 09.01.2007 15:48 Pitty. They're very common here in Brazil, too. Would it do any good if I just ask "pretty please with suggar in the top"? :p
  9. re: Additional character suggestions | Andraz | 09.01.2007 16:05 hehe, that always helps :).

No really, introducing new objects is something that we will be very careful about. And we will take our time to think about it :)
  10. re: Additional character suggestions | gamestudio | 09.01.2007 16:59 LOL -> http://gamestudio.stripgenerator.com/2007/01/09/sgs-0-watercooler.html
  11. re: Additional character suggestions | Andraz | 09.01.2007 17:52 indeed :)
  12. re: Additional character suggestions | Zigmund | 09.01.2007 18:02 exactly my view on things! why have all objects, when it's more fun building new ones and you get respect from it.. the limitations and thinking outside the box is, by my oppinion, the best thing about stripgenerator. and the user contributes a whole lot when he is creative. take lego for instance - when you had all the pieces you could imagine, it became pretty lame. at least that's what happened with me.

so we are very precise about new stuff. in past many folks have proven that you dont need anything more to do whatever you wished. ofcourse now with blogging things have to evolve, but to what extent, is a big question. if we add all possible features, soon we will get a net drawing program with no signature at all. also more complications and harder to understand for one-time users..

so the formula would be adding things slowly, periodicaly and keeping the simplicity. as stated, we intend to really listen to you people when putting in new stuff, the interaction just has to be there.

  13. re: Additional character suggestions | gamestudio | 09.01.2007 18:08 Yeah. I just agree with everything you said. And I even got my Watercooler...

It's still hard to improvise donkeys and elefants, though... Ha!
  14. re: Additional character suggestions | gamestudio | 09.01.2007 18:08 elephants. DUH!
  15. re: Additional character suggestions | ActingUpAgain | 10.01.2007 21:36 I'm working on an improvised donkey using the cow. I'll publish it when I get it done.

No idea on the elephant yet...but give me time...
  16. re: Additional character suggestions | ActingUpAgain | 10.01.2007 21:45 Goat, not cow. Oy...
  17. re: Additional character suggestions | Estoy | 10.01.2007 23:25 Some characters of Slovene history(like the big boy Prešeren, goodfella Trubar and the sassy King Matjaž) could be presented into this SG.
  18. re: Additional character suggestions | Zigmund | 11.01.2007 16:20 trying to avoid direct persons, cause like i said before, it's much more inventive for the user to create a person himself. the goal thrue the whole stripgenerator process was to create a big variety of shapes of characters, so you can make anyone.

if you are lacking some perticular forms or shapes in objects, do tell...
  19. re: Additional character suggestions | Estoy | 11.01.2007 20:27 Well actually you made Marcel Stefančič Junior. Maybe unintentionally. He is the 17th from behind in characters #2.
As for the objects, I wouldn't mind a smaller table and another hat(maybe a woman hat).
  20. re: Additional character suggestions | ActingUpAgain | 11.01.2007 23:59 Cobbled together an elephant and a donkey - they will do in a pinch!

  21. re: Additional character suggestions | gamestudio | 15.01.2007 15:00 What about white dots and lines and other utilitarian objects?

Maybe, basic forms that allowed rescaling or just diferent sized versions of these...
  22. re: Additional character suggestions | Zigmund | 15.01.2007 15:55 yes, planning that..
  23. re: Additional character suggestions | gamestudio | 15.01.2007 17:06 GOOD! Can't wait to see it...

    :)~
  24. re: Additional character suggestions | Estoy | 21.01.2007 20:56 More characters facing sideways. And more cool characters. I think the way coolest character is the first one.
  25. re: Additional character suggestions | anonymous | 23.01.2007 21:54 would love to have some sailing objects if you can generate some, i.e. a boat, pontoon etc. A boat would be great anyway :-)

    thanks
    Rob
  26. re: Additional character suggestions | Andraz | 24.01.2007 10:54 Thanks for the thoughts.
