Description
The Climactic battle for the fate of Greece.
Unsuiatble for Persians.Transcript
ExpandSo preparations were made to do battle with the Persians. The four strategoi who stood with Miltiades submitted their authority to him
However, Miltiades said that he would only committ to battle when he was meant to be in charge
Meanwhile the Persians waited at Marathon, regularly sending out Cavalry to gather supplies
Eventually, the call to battle was given.
The Greeks formed up a mile away from the Persians and then advanced at such a pace that the Persians had little time to position their archers or ready the Cavalry
Where's the Cavalry?
Still foraging!
The battle was long and bloody. Eventually the Persians broke the centre
Callimachus commanded the right flank while the Plataeans were on the left. Miltiades commanded the centre where the line was weakest
Oh the humanity!
Only to get themselves surrounded when Callimachus and the Plataeans outflanked them
The Persians were cut down as they fled to their ships. Athens was saved...or was it?
